CUYAHOGA FALLS
Fines for charity
CUYAHOGA FALLS: A traffic stop in Cuyahoga Falls will sting a little less for the next two weeks.
The fourth annual Toys for Tickets will run for two weeks, through Dec. 17.
Police officers will issue “toy waivers” instead of a warning or ticket for minor traffic violations.
Speeders and other minor violators will be encouraged to donate a new, unwrapped toy to Toys for Tots by dropping it off at the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, 2310 Second St., through Dec. 17.
Mayor Don Robart began the program in 2007.
“In the spirit of the holiday season, I hope that the donated toys will have a positive and lasting impact on the children of our community and the drivers who are saved more than a few dollars in fines and court costs,” Robart said.
Road closed
CUYAHOGA FALLS: Akron Peninsula Road from Ira Road to Bolanz Road will be closed today until further notice.
According to Service Director Valerie Wax Carr, the road embankment will be repaired. Detour signs have been posted.
MUNROE FALLS
Trail work
MUNROE FALLS: The Bike & Hike Trail underpass at North Main Street (state Route 91) will close today for repairs.
The trail underpass will be closed for about six weeks as a contractor replaces a retaining wall that has deteriorated from salt runoff over the last 12 years.
A short section of the trail will then be repaved next spring, said Metro Parks, Serving Summit County.
